The great thing about making big bowls and pitchers by hand is that each one is a work of art, sufficient unto itself. Again, this is the whole point of hand-made pottery in the age of the big machine.
All serving bowls and platters are available in either the Lotus or Square style. The Lotus style bowls and plates have a cut rim in a six-pointed lotus flower pattern. Wherever the Buddha walked, lotus flowers sprang up in his footsteps, and the six-pointed star of the Magen David represents the interpenetration of the lower and higher worlds. You can laugh at this mystical stuff if you want, but there really is something pleasing and harmonious about this shape. The Square style is cut on four sides and then spun back into round on the wheel.
All shapes are available in all glazes, and orders for things that are not in stock are done in six to eight weeks.
