I learned an important lesson at last year’s firing of Joy Brown’s kiln when I glazed these mugs in my white glaze all the way down, and of course it melted brilliantly, but just a little too much so that I had to grind sharp glass off the bottom. This is all part of wood firing, and who looks at the bottom of the mug, anyway? Next time I’ll glaze a little higher.
